Boston - Harvard square, grave yards and a Red Sox Game

Boston

Boston is one of my favorite places to walk around. I love history and this city is filled with it! While staying in New Hampshire this summer, I had the opportunity to visit Boston a few times. Here are photos from my trips. Enjoy!

Harvard Square
One afternoon, I met up with an old friend I met in Nicaragua while doing a primate field school. It has been around 6 years since I seen her, so it was really cool to catch up. We ate lunch at a little bar near the public library and then ventured to Harvard Square. I had never been to Harvard Square so I was really excited to see a new part of the city!

While in Harvard Square we wandered around Harvard. It is a very pretty campus!

Harvard Memorial Hall. I love brick buildings and Harvard is filled with them!

Freedom Trail

The next time I visited Boston, I made my friend Amanda, walk the Freedom Trail with me. She isn't as excited about history as I am but I am happy she joined me! Here are some photos from our Freedom Trail walk around the city!

A man looking at the graves in Granary Burying Ground in Boston. In this cemetery, there are many famous Revolutionary patriots. Such as Paul Revere, John Hancock, and the Franklin family.

Old graves, many dating to the late 1600's.

Like many of the old historical cities in New England, Boston gives tours of all the historical places. Many of the tour guides dress up as they tell you about the city's historical landmarks. This man is telling a group about Paul Revere, and his final resting place.

A little bird in the grave yard.

I love the design of old gravestones.

Walking across the street.

Quincy Market

In front of Quincy Market, a women covered in Silver was preforming for a crowd.

One of the stops on the Freedom Trail was the King's Chapel. Inside the chapel, there are boxed pews. Each of these pews belonged to a family or group of people. The more money you had, the closer you were to the front. Here is an example of what one looks like.

We continued our walk to the historic North End of Boston.

A Saturday afternoon in a park.

Once we got to the North End of Boston, we went into Paul Revere's house.

A photo of inside the house.

Red Sox Game
The photos below are from a Red Sox game at Fenway park.

Amanda, Iris and I at a Red Sox game!

So many people!

This guy was very excited about the game, and he was always up cheering for the Red Sox!

While watching the game, I happened to be sitting behind a person that brought a baby kangaroo to the game. The family next to me was from Detroit and noticed it first. They could not bring in a bottle of water, but security let a kangaroo in. Go figure:)

Amanda and Iris!
